Insights from the boys....

The last few weeks have been CRAZY at our house. Some friends from Birmingham came to visit, which we loved. But Keith and I are the type to save all of our home improvement/ maintenance ideas for the week before company comes. Sort of like the time we decided to redecorate 2 rooms in our house before Sam's first birthday party. Not our brightest idea as a couple. : )

So after a week full of projects, house cleaning and an univited stomach bug, we had blast for 5 days with our friends. But now they are gone and Mama is TIRED!

Today, Sam and Stephen went to school and Mom went to sleep. It was awesome.

I give you all this background so that you will understand why I have not blogged in forever, but in the midst of the craziness I have kept a list of the funny things the boys have said. So, in no particular order, here they are...

  • Given the season, Stephen is into pumpkins right now. So every time we go to the grocery store, he talks about the pumpkin patch outside the front door. Makes perfect sense. But now, any group of items is a "patch." So when we drive down MOPAC and he sees the lane arrows below the interstate signs, he screams, "MOMMY! Arrow Patch!" During a trip the playground, the tic-tac-toe board was a "letter patch." You get the idea...
  • On Friday afternoons, I try to do something special with Sam after I pick him up from school. Last week, we headed to the video store for a special movie (per his request, it had to be Hollywood Video...not Blockbuster. No idea what that's all about). On the way, he said, "Mommy, I want to get Bob's Big Plan--the story behind the new serious." I was confused until I remembered there is a preview for this video on a Thomas movie we have at home---In the commercial, they call it "Bob's Big Plan--the story behind the new series."
  • We have chore charts set up for the boys where they earn rewards for their chores. Every chore they do earns them a sticker. Over time, the stickers add up to big things they want. Sam informed me this morning that he has already earned "ten hundred and eleven stickers." WOW!
  • According to Sam, as you grow, you change your name based on your age. So his plan is as follows:
  • Ages 1-2--we were supposed to call him Stephen because that's a "little boy name"
  • Age 3-4-- We are to call him Sam
  • Ages 5-6- Sammy
  • Ages 9-10- He will be Samuel
  • Ages 11-12-- He told us these years are for "every single all of my name" which we assume means Samuel Graydon Miller
  • Ages 13-14-- He will be Mas (Sam backwards) He learned that on Backwards Day at preschool last year
  • Ages 15-16 -- He will be Sam again, but then he will be old enough to drive the Larrymobile we are apparently going to buy him. Then he will take our family on a Rocket Carriage Ride Field Trip (From Veggie Tale's The Star of Christmas).

Glad to know the child has a plan.... : )
